Shema (שמע) is the Hebrew word used in Deuteronomy 6 to call all people of Israel to listen and internalize God’s words in their hearts. Internalization is a dear and familiar concept in the world of Bible translation, because mother tongue translators usually internalize a passage before translating it.
Shema YWAM is about listening, honoring and learning from each other, so we can better fulfill the calling of our generation. We are committed to sharing the stories from every generation, and from around the world to bring perspective, variety and unity.

Shema is also what this channel is about. It is a space where we can listen to one another as we learn how to do Bible translation today. Our combined efforts have produced translations into hundreds of languages already.
“These words are to be in your heart. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
